EPIC 2016

To know the South is to know its food. Indulge your senses as you explore the deep roots that make the Southern Table renowned throughout the world.

To set the stage for this Southern culinary adventure, we will tour one of the South's great mansions, Belle Meade Plantation. The tour begins in the fully restored Greek Revival Mansion, completed in 1853, whose grounds include a large carriage house, stable, log cabin and several other original buildings. We then spend time in one of the original plantation kitchens where the southern cooks will let you participate in cooking and tasting the southern classics like biscuits with plantation smoked country ham, pecan pie or home-raised honey and preserves. The tour also explores the largest antebellum smokehouse in the South where over 20,000 pounds of pork a year were smoked and the family Herb Garden. The final stop will be a sampling of wines in the winery, a tradition started on the plantation in 1820.
